Sure this stuff isn’t appealing to everyone, but I had fun talking about it. hehe.
I am not excited about choking or cutting off blood to the brain. Having said that, a hand around or across the throat in a threatening way that would not restrict so much that it would cause unconsciousness is something I enjoy doing. Having my hands tight/firm around her throat. Perhaps in a way that pushes her forcefully back against a wall, or down onto a bed or floor, or back into a chair as a way of focusing attention is an exciting activity. There might be a small amount of choking that would be associated with that kind of rough treatment but it would not be the intent or objective, and I would monitor and control it vigorously. Another activity that I would consider a form of breath play is smothering. Specifically putting my hand over her mouth in such a way that it blocks talking, and even eliminates breathing through the mouth, or even placing the hand over the mouth in such a way that the mouth and nostrils are both block. Accompanied by strong eye contact and/or verbal instruction or chastising, holding the smothering posture to a point that is just beyond “please stop” can be very intoxicating. This can be a very effective for drawing attention or holding attention, developing a fear or panic response, however, like choking, is something to be controlled very carefully.

Of course there is a big distinction between a hand on the throat for tension/control purposes and actually chocking forcefully. I like this very much, and it has exactly the effect you described - like a tunneling focus of my attention on him, a quick jolt of adrenaline, etc.
And smothering is certainly a form of breath play that I forget to mentions - so thanks for bringing it up! But like you said, this one can get dangerous quickly…so maybe just mild smothering for dramatic effect…

Smothering is not something I am into, that being said however, one can use parts of ones own body to inhibit airflow that are not necessarily the hands. I am assuming my meaning is well taken.
