I’m warning you right now – I’m not the most ‘cultured’ person when it comes to humor. Sure I enjoy talking to intelligently witty people and the grown-up banter of politicians (ha!)…but for some inexplicable reason the most asinine sexuality-themed funnies get me to chuckle every time!
I’m a sucker for those ridiculous birthday cards with the big-boobed women and the Chip-N-Dale men. I love penis-shaped pasta and x-rated fortune cookies. In fact, back when I had free time, I used to like going into those novelty stores just to browse around all the goofy sex stuff people have come up with. I would often think, “Someone out there actually spent time designing, manufacturing, and distributing this completely stupid flips-in-the-air pecker.” Don’t people have more important things to do with their lives? But just when I’d be chastising the human race for squandering its creativity I’d pick up the flipping-pecker and laugh anyway. Even against my ‘better judgment’ I just couldn’t make the childish part of me stop giggling.
Honestly Fun Sex – Laughing, Chuckling, and General Shenanigans
Luckily I’ve made peace with my immaturity and realized what a plus it actually is for my very ‘mature’ sex life. Being able to let go of our perpetual seriousness as adults is one of the best ways to fully explore our sexuality and our lovers. The way I see it, sex in a relationship is the ideal place to play with our partners. And I do mean play – like in the Yippy-I’m-Superwoman kind of way. Of course not all sex has to be or should be lighthearted, but when was the last time you laughed while doing something erotic? A lot of people think laughing will ruin “the mood,” but in reality laughter and playfulness can add a great deal of emotional intimacy to the encounter. It’s important to enjoy your time together, and making a game out of sex can be a wonderful change of pace, especially if sex in your long term relationship has become routine (which happens at some point to all couples).

But when you have game cards from Lust bluntly telling you : “Your loins are on fire! Without speaking, show your lover what other things you can do to communicate that you want it and you want it now!” or “Think of the naughtiest thing you and your lover have ever done. Then whisper it in your lover’s ear and let your lover know just how badly you want to do it again!” It takes a moment to work up the courage to go through with that sort of provocative behavior. Getting past the initial hesitation and actually doing what the game says is half the fun. I know my husband gets a kick out of watching his usually confident wife squirm a bit, and I enjoy seeing his lust for me build and build with every new trick I pull out of my, um, “sleeve.”

And forget those people who think sexuality should always be approached with some sort of stoic reverence. Honestly, the world has plenty of things that need to be seriously addressed. Your sex life should not be one of them. Use the precious stolen time you have with your lover as a joyous escape. It’ll take away your stress, and you’ll be in a much better frame of mind to tackle the problems that actually need your full grown-up attention.
