Every Easily Aroused Englishman has Secrets…
…But This One Tells Them All!
When I accidentally happened upon a blog called Easily Aroused, I knew immediately I was in for quite an erotic treat. Stylish, elegant, refined - the presentation was everything you’d expect from a classy accented man. He eloquently sipped from his single malt whiskey. His eyes nonchalantly scanned the horizon for something of interest. I held my breath, and hoped it would be me…
Or at least that’s how I imagined our first meeting. As I read through his stories, entranced and addicted, his private thoughts dripped with lustful abandon. Although his sexual frustration was evident, the sensual creativity it produced must have been a heavy consolation. I was intrigued, so naturally I wanted to know more about this “Oversexed Englishman” - his motivations, his inspirations, his history.
Turns out he’s every bit the gentleman I hoped he would be. Mr. EA graciously agreed to be interviewed for S.S. What follows is a very intimate and very exclusive look into the legendary man who so Easily Arouses us all…
**********
Mr. EA, what prompted you to start Easily Aroused?
The genesis of ‘Easily Aroused’ lies in a handwritten journal, written as a means of expressing the desires and the frustrations of my sex life. My wife and I have markedly different libidos, and trying to overcome the obstacles thrown up by that imbalance has been a challenging aspect of our marriage. Despite thinking of myself as an eloquent man, I struggled to articulate the frustrations I was experiencing when we did talk. So I began writing them down. It wasn’t a book of ‘woe is me’. It was an opportunity to look inside myself, to
explore why I desired certain things, why I felt frustrated by others. I also wrote down a number of fantasies that appealed to me, trying to write them in a way I hoped my wife would find exciting and arousing.Alas, my hopes for the journal were not fulfilled. My wife read some of it, but ultimately, she found it dispiriting to see my disappointments expressed in black and white. I can understand why. It was a one-way transmission and although I encouraged her from the outset to make it two-way, I think I intimidated her into withdrawing, something that I still regret.
Ironically, I ended up feeling frustrated with the journal! Not only had it failed to achieve what I wanted it to, but I was really pleased with the quality of some of my writing, and the one person who could read it didn’t want to! But during a day’s Internet surfing, I happened across the now-defunct ‘Indecent Blogging’ blog hosting site … and the rest, as they say, is history.
Although I’d love to take credit for being your muse, I know that’s impossible since we’ve just met. Where do you find your inspiration? Is it difficult to write sometimes or do things just flow?
Inspiration comes from all sorts of places. Sometimes it can be as easy as glimpsing a photograph, or a certain woman walking down the street, or reading a line in a book or a magazine. Sometimes, I receive suggestions for stories from readers, and if one of those connects, if it intrigues or challenges me, I’ll go with it and see where it takes me. And I still have my own fantasies to explore as well.
Other times, inspiration can be damned elusive. It’s one of the reasons why I’m nowhere near as prolific an author as some other erotic bloggers out there. I’ve learned not to try and force it though. For one thing,
it makes writing feel like a chore. Maybe those authors who write for a living have to endure days (weeks?) like that, but I do this to escape the grind, not to re-imagine it!When I do strike a vein of form, things do flow pretty easily. I can turn out a three thousand word story in a day or two when I hit my stride, and because I tend to edit on the fly, it’s not long from inception to first appearance on the blog. I know there are some writers who have several pieces of work on the go at once, at various
stages of development. I tend to write one at a time, concentrating on it until it’s finished. Again, that probably hampers my productivity, but so far, it’s what works for me.
What sort of reactions have you received from your
readers? Have they been mainly positive or negative?
To say I feel privileged to have received so many positive responses to Easily Aroused would be a massive understatement. There have been some negatives along the way, but fortunately they’ve been few in number (though that might change now!)
One commenter told me that I’d demonstrated a complete lack of understanding when it came to describing the layout of a woman’s genitals. Another suggested I was hiding my repressed homosexuality behind so much heterosexual posturing. And one kind soul from Alabama told me that if I dropped in on his state, I could look forward to a reaming of the like meted out to Ned Beatty in Deliverance!
Those sorts of comments have been very much in the minority though, and it’s always flattering to read that you’ve managed to touch someone with something you’ve written. Obviously, I write about sex, and so as a heterosexual male, I enjoy knowing that my work has been good enough to arouse and excite female readers. But it’s rewarding to get comments from male readers too, especially those who’ve said, “Yeah, I’ve enjoyed the thought of that too, but I always believed I was alone in feeling that way.” How can it be anything but a positive experience when something you’ve written makes people feel a little less isolated, a little less strange? On a slightly more prosaic note, I like to think I’m a capable writer, so it’s nice when someone just says, “I really like the way you write”. It lets me believe I might be capable of writing well about other subjects.
Have any of your readers surprised you or said things that made even you blush?
I have had a few interesting invitations from some of my female readers along the way too … but I think I’ll keep the details to myself!
Needless to say, you really understand how to arouse women, often with very few words. Where does your expertise come from?
I have absolutely no idea! Actually, I’d never choose the term ‘expertise’ myself. In my experience, when you set yourself up as an expert, you’re setting yourself up for a fall. But for as long as I can
remember, I’ve had a profound interest in women, and it’s an interest I’ve been pursuing ever since! Whatever I’ve done, I’ve always striven to do it as well as I can, and so as a teenager, I spent hours pouring over the pages of my battered copy of The Joy of Sex, aiming to ensure I was always at least adequate to any occasion. I really think that book helped instill a sense of balance in me when it came to sex, at a
time when my hormones were running riot. It helped me to comprehend that there are no pre-programmed guarantees to fulfillment, that you have to listen to your partner, hear what she’s saying to you with her whole body and react accordingly. It also started me on the path to understanding that good lovemaking — good fucking — can be both a selfless act and a selfish one. Along the way, I learned not to afraid of experimenting, and not to be surprised by people. After all, we each have the potential for desires that are out of keeping with our everyday facades. Finally, I think I’ve been fortunate. In terms of sex, I seem to think in rhythms that women appreciate. I guess those are the things that add up to the way I write.
Clearly your talent for writing erotica is superb. Why do you offer
it to your readers for free?
Good question. Agents!!!??? Seriously though, I enjoy having an audience for my writing, and the best way to achieve an audience –particularly when you’re starting out — is to offer your work for free. Besides, there’s always that nagging voice in the back of your head - the one that’s constantly whispering, “It’s not good enough to sell.” But I do have some plans for recompense in the pipeline. I tried a brief experiment earlier this year where I made a single story available for a relatively minimal payment, and enough people subscribed to the idea to encourage me to pursue it further. So I’m working on a brand new collection of stories, which I plan to market as an E-Book either late this year or early 2008. As with the short story experiment, the only way to read the stories will be to buy the book. Maybe this will determine if I’m as good as I hope I am.
Finally, what’s the sexiest thing someone has ever said to you?
Let’s make love, you silly, hairy little man.

Mr. EA, I can’t thank you enough for indulging us with that wonderfully private interview. Every word of your erotica reverberates with a sensuality that’s rarely found. And, my Dear Readers, if you don’t believe me I’ll let Mr EA convince you in his very own intelligently hypnotic way…
“Do you want to be lost in a fury of passion, to be swept away by a tumultuous sea of need and flesh? Frantic fingers pulling at your clothes, wrenching them apart to expose the gleaming nakedness beneath…Do you want to be helpless? Lashed down, silk scarves wound tightly about your wrists and your ankles, binding you to the four corners of the bed…Do you want to be slowly undressed before flickering candlelight? Strong fingers moving with deft assuredness over the buttons of your dress, the clasp of your brassiere…Truth is, you can have anything. Anything that’s written here, anything that’s not.
